Meet Our Staff

Samuel Kassing | Team Leader
Leslie KassingStaff

Samuel was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri where he also attended Missouri Baptist University.

His wife, Leslie, recently joined staff with Cru after working in the fashion industry. Leslie grew up in Missouri and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

Though never expecting to end up in Kansas, Samuel and Leslie have grown to love Manhattan and look forward to raising their family here. They are excited to see a generation of plodding visionaries raised up and take the gospel to the nations through vocation and missions!

Kelly Verge | Team Leader

Kelly and her husband, Chad, left their jobs in the workplace in 2007 to join Cru staff. It’s been quite a crazy adventure for them as they followed Jesus’s calling to share the gospel with college students. The two have been married since 1996. They have two kids, Emily and Connor, and three furry friends at home.

Kelly truly believes she has the best job in the world. When Chad became a carpenter for Verge Construction, Inc. in 2013, she remained on staff with Cru. Besides working with college students, she loves to travel, shop for antiques, read, watch movies and eat out!

Levi and Katie BoyengerStaff

Levi grew up in El Dorado, Kansas. He worked in automotive machining, a job he apprenticed for in high school, for 13 years.

Katie grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. She taught piano lessons and cared for her horse, cat, and chinchilla until she had a real baby!

The two met at Kansas Bible Camp in Hutchinson. They’ve been married since 2007. In 2009, they started volunteering with Cru at Butler Community College in El Dorado, and became, over the course of 4 years, the volunteer coordinators of Cru movements at three other south central Kansas campuses. They officially became staff members in 2014, and moved to Manhattan. Their passion is sharing the love of Jesus with students, discipleship, and lots of board game nights! They are HUGE Lord of the Rings nerds; the middle names of their boys are characters from Tolkien books!

David and Katie HardyStaff

David graduated from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a degree in Philosophy and Economics. He wants to see students at K-State experience the gospel in Christ-centered community, put their trust in Jesus, and become lifelong disciples of Christ. He is particularly passionate about seeing young men grow into spiritual maturity. He loves being a dad and likes to spend his free time playing basketball, reading, and playing board games.

Katie graduated with a degree in Applied Behavioral Science from the University of Kansas. After interning for two years with Cru at KU, she became a full-time staff member because she wanted to see college students come to know Jesus and deepen their walks with him. She enjoys being a mom, drinking coffee, watching basketball, running, and playing with her dogs, Rudy and Theo.

David and Katie were high school sweethearts and got married in 2011. They moved to Manhattan to work with Cru at K-State in 2014, and shortly after, their daughter Roosevelt was born.

Ryan and Monica ReevesStaff

Ryan graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2002 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He has been on staff with Cru for 14 years, and have served in Colorado, Kansas, California, East Asia, Mexico, South Africa, and Greece. His favorite parts of staff life are sharing his faith with students and teaching Christians more about their faith. God really used Cru in his life at Colorado, so he sees it as a blessing to be used by God to reach others now. Besides Jesus, family and my job with Cru, he loves skiing, disc golf, ultimate Frisbee, being a sports fan, movies, and travel.

Monica graduated from K-State in 2000 with degrees in communication studies and communication sciences and disorders. She has served with Cru in Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado since joining staff in 2001. In addition to working with students on campus, she trains staff members in Biblical foundation and practical steps for developing ministry partners.  She loves helping staff and students grow closer to God and follow His calling for their lives! She loves sports, especially the Kansas City Royals; music; movies; reading; and traveling anywhere she can!

Ryan and Monica have been married since 2011 and love it! They also have an amazing dog named Jazzy. They are so excited to be first-time staff members at K-State, and are expecting great things from God this year!

Sara MartinIntern

Sara graduates from K-State in December 2016 with a degree in Family Studies and Human Services and a minor in procrastinating homework to spend time with Cru homies. She is a super fan of Jesus and is pumped to be interning with Cru; talking about Jesus and hanging out with awesome people is one of the best jobs she can imagine. She looks forward to seeing the Lord transform the lives of students and seeing God glorified at K-State. Sara loves Catchphrase, puppies, tacos, and Catchphrase—this girl seriously loves Catchphrase. Her hobbies include reading, knitting, and annoying her pup, Jack.

Joel MesserIntern

Joel graduated from Manhattan Area Technical College in 2014 with an associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD). For the last two years, he has worked for a civil engineering firm as a CAD technician. He loves sports. For the last four years, he has been an assistant football coach for a local homeschool/Christian school combined team.

Pallace SchnittkerIntern

Pallace graduated in the class of 2016 from Kansas State University with a degree in Horticulture Production. Not quite ready to find a job in the plant world, she will be serving as an intern with Cru. She is excited to have another year in Manhattan, loving and serving the college campus, where she hopes to see students grow and bloom in their walks with Christ. She misses her puppies, Watney and Slugger, who are back in Wichita with her parents. She likes to visit her younger brother, who is studying Entrepreneurship at KU. You might also find her water skiing, running, drinking diet coke, or enjoying the company and laughter of friends.
